How Long Does It Take to Heal After a Tooth Extraction?

Most people begin feeling much better within a few days, although complete healing of the bone takes much longer.

The first week is when you’ll notice the biggest improvement in discomfort and swelling. Over the following weeks and months, your gums and the bone underneath continue to heal.

Every extraction is different. A simple extraction often heals more quickly than a surgical extraction or wisdom tooth removal.

We’ll monitor your healing when appropriate and let you know when you’re ready for the next step if you’re planning to replace the missing tooth.
