After a tooth is removed, it’s completely normal to see or feel an opening where the tooth used to be.
Your gums begin healing right away, but the bone underneath takes several months to completely fill in. During that time, the opening will gradually become smaller as your body heals naturally.
It’s important to keep the area clean by following the instructions we provide. Food may collect in the area while it’s healing, and we’ll explain the safest way to keep it clean without disturbing the healing tissues.
If you’re ever unsure whether your extraction site is healing normally, give us a call. We’d be happy to take a look.
