We understand this is often the first question patients ask. Nobody wants more dental treatment than they truly need.
A crown is usually recommended when a tooth has lost too much of its natural structure because of a large cavity, a fracture, or an old filling that’s failing. In these situations, another filling often won’t provide enough support, making the tooth much more likely to break.
We’ll always explain why we’re recommending a crown, show you what we’re seeing, and answer your questions before any treatment begins. If there are other reasonable options, we’ll discuss those too.
