Do I Have Sensitive Teeth?

Many people have sensitive teeth from time to time, especially when eating or drinking something cold. Sensitivity can be caused by worn enamel, gum recession, teeth grinding, whitening treatments, or exposed tooth roots.

Sometimes sensitivity is simply sensitivity. Other times, it’s the first sign of a cavity, a cracked tooth, or another dental problem.

If the discomfort is mild, toothpaste made for sensitive teeth may help. If it continues, becomes worse, or is affecting one specific tooth, it’s time to schedule an exam.
