Does My Tooth Really Need to Be Pulled?

We know hearing that a tooth needs to be removed can be disappointing. Whenever possible, our first goal is to help you keep your natural teeth.

Sometimes, however, a tooth is so badly damaged by decay, infection, a fracture, or bone loss that it can’t be predictably saved. In those situations, removing the tooth may be the healthiest option and can help prevent future pain or infection.

We’ll explain why we’re recommending an extraction, review your X-rays with you, and discuss any reasonable alternatives before treatment begins. If the tooth can be saved, we’ll tell you. If it can’t, we’ll explain why.
