It depends on the type of anesthesia or sedation used during your appointment.
If your tooth is removed using only local anesthetic, most patients are able to drive themselves home. If you receive nitrous oxide (laughing gas), you can usually drive once your appointment is over.
However, if you take oral sedation or receive IV sedation, you’ll need a responsible adult to drive you home and stay with you as instructed.
If you’re unsure what to expect, just ask when scheduling your appointment. We’ll make sure you know exactly how to prepare before the day of your procedure.
