A cracked tooth isn’t always easy to see, but it’s one of the most common reasons people experience pain when biting down. The crack may be too small to see in the mirror and, in some cases, may not even show up on an X-ray.
You may notice sharp pain when chewing, sensitivity to hot or cold, or discomfort that seems to come and go. Every crack is different, which is why an exam is important to determine whether the tooth can be repaired.
The sooner a cracked tooth is treated, the better the chance of preventing the crack from getting larger.
