Not every damaged tooth needs a crown, but sometimes it’s the best way to protect a tooth from breaking.
If a tooth is cracked or more than half of the natural tooth has been lost because of decay or a fracture, a filling often isn’t strong enough to last. In those situations, a crown helps protect the remaining tooth.
One thing we tell patients every day is that we’ll never recommend treatment we don’t believe will last. If we recommend a crown, we’ll explain exactly why and answer any questions before moving forward.
