One of the first questions we hear is, “Are dentures comfortable?”

The honest answer is that most patients adjust very well to dentures, but nothing will ever be as comfortable or function exactly like your natural teeth. That’s one of the reasons we do everything we can to help patients keep their natural teeth whenever possible.

Upper dentures are often easier to adapt to because they cover the roof of your mouth, creating natural suction that helps hold them in place. Lower dentures can be more challenging because they have less surface area for support and must share space with your tongue, cheeks, and muscles that move throughout the day. Some patients do very well with a traditional lower denture, while others feel more confident using a denture adhesive.

If you continue struggling with a lower denture, you still have options. Implant-retained dentures provide significantly more stability than traditional dentures and can make eating, speaking, and smiling much more comfortable for many patients.

We’ll explain every option available and help you choose the one that’s best for your lifestyle, goals, and budget.
