Will I Need a Bone Graft?

Not everyone needs a bone graft, but it’s a common procedure after a tooth is removed.

One of the main reasons we recommend a bone graft is to help preserve the bone that naturally supports your teeth. Preserving that bone may improve your options for replacing the tooth in the future, especially if you’re considering a dental implant.

Whether you need a bone graft depends on the condition of the tooth being removed, the amount of bone that’s already present, and your long-term treatment goals. If we recommend one, we’ll explain why and answer any questions before treatment begins.

We don’t recommend bone grafts for every extraction, only when we believe they’ll benefit your long-term oral health.
