Dental crowns can be used to treat a variety of issues, whether you have a cavity or a damaged or weakened tooth. A crown sits over your tooth, restoring its original size, shape, appearance, and strength while protecting it from further damage.
The traditional way of milling a crown can be inconvenient and time-consuming. In the past, a dentist would have to use a gooey impression material to make a template of your tooth for a temporary crown while the permanent crown had to be milled in a lab. It would take two visits minimum until you had a permanent crown cemented in place. Today, CEREC technology is available, which allows for same-day crowns.
There are many advantages of same-day crowns over the traditional method:
- Saves Time – Same-day crowns can be milled at the dental office, allowing you to finish the treatment in one visit instead of multiple. This saves you time in the chair, in the waiting room, and on the road driving to your appointments. It’s far more convenient than the traditional way.
- Increases Comfort – Same-day crowns eliminate the need for temporary crowns, which tend to be more uncomfortable because they are a less precise fit than permanent crowns. Choosing a dentist that has CEREC technology will minimize your discomfort.
- No Gooey Impression Material – The gooey impression material used to make a mold for your permanent crown can be unpleasant, but there’s no need for it with same-day crowns. CEREC technology allows for digital impressions instead.
We offer same-day crowns at Dental Oasis of Clayton. Contact us to make an appointment.
