What are the Most Common Dental Problems?

No matter how well you take care of your teeth, eventually you will need to come in for a check-up with the dentist to make sure your oral hygiene is where it needs to be. If you’re feeling nervous about the visit, it may help you feel more prepared to know some of the most common dental problems we see during our exams:

What are the Most Common Dental Problems?

  • Chipped teeth. If you have a chipped tooth, you are likely already aware of it. Chipped teeth are usually caused by a hard impact to your tooth, and you may already have noticed a different shape to the chipped tooth in question.
  • Infected teeth. While these are common dental problems for patients to come in with, patients may not be able to differentiate between a cavity and an infected tooth. However, if the pain is all the way to your jaw, neck, or ear, or you are experiencing fever or swelling, it is far more likely you are dealing with an infection rather than a mere cavity.
  • Toothache. Even without an infection, your tooth may still ache, or be sensitive to hot or cold temperatures. Once you come in, we can identify the root cause of the pain and address it as is necessary.
  • Yellow teeth. Teeth can be yellow for any number of reasons: diet, enamel erosion, aging, tobacco use, or just simple genetics. Whatever the cause, though, we can address the yellowness at your appointment.

We can help you with all of these common dental problems, and many more on top of these, at your next appointment at Dental Oasis of Clayton.
