What happens if I don’t get a crown?

Not every tooth needs a crown, but if your dentist recommends one, there’s usually a reason. A cracked tooth or a tooth that’s lost a large amount of its natural structure is much more likely to break over time.

Sometimes a small crack can become a large fracture that can no longer be repaired. Other times, a filling simply isn’t strong enough to support what’s left of the tooth.

If you’re unsure why a crown was recommended, ask us. We’ll show you what we’re seeing, explain your options, and tell you why we believe a crown is—or isn’t—the best long-term solution.
